David was a midnight dispatcher when I first started 41 years ago at the APD. He was well respected and well liked. I was a young, new police officer and David took good care of me. He was known as the best dispatcher at the PD and could keep track of all the officers both on paper and in his head. He could immediately tell where any of his officers at a moments notice. We all felt safer and taken care of when David was on the radio. I would pop into dispatch and visit with him whenever I had time. Years later, I was a midnight field Sergeant and David was still on midnights and still on the radio. He was the best dispatcher you could have on the radio and when we were out on something major, he was the best dispatcher to have on the radio. I was on midnights when he retired and I was at his retirement party the was help in the middle of the night of course. He was a good policeman, great dispatcher, and fine friend. I have missed him since the day he left and I will miss him even more now, but David was my friend and took good care of me and the other officers at the APD. Capt, Tam Boatler APD
