Don McPherson, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and U.S. Air Force Veteran, passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Plainview, Texas, on March 13, 1937, to Howard and Florene McPherson, Don lived a life of service, devotion to family, and a deep passion for his hobbies and community.
Don served honorably in the United States Air Force, with assignments in California, North Africa, Germany, and Greece. His love for service extended into his personal life, where he showed great loyalty and dedication to his family and friends. Don married his soulmate, Eddra, in April 1966. Together, they raised two children, Ray and Janet, and shared a life filled with love, adventure, and mutual respect. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Eddra, his parents, and his sister, Freda Duniven.
A proud supporter of his community, Don was deeply involved in the local Harley Owners Group (HOG), where he served as president of the local chapter. He was also an avid model airplane enthusiast, spending countless days traveling to competitions and pursuing his passion for aviation. A man of few words, Don’s quiet wisdom and strong presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Don is survived by his children, Ray McPherson and wife Suzie, and Janet McPherson; his grandchildren, Jordan and Makenzie McPherson; and his great-grandson, Maddox McPherson. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service will be held on March 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Dr. Hal Rogers officiating. Military honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans.
