A celebration of Jo Ann’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40 in Amarillo, with Gene Shelbourne presiding.
Jo Ann was born on August 29, 1953 in Canadian, Texas to Luther Miles and Mary Maxine Zimmerman. The family moved to Snyder, Texas before finally planting roots in Amarillo where Jo Ann would be raised.
She was a 1971 graduate of Caprock High School. In 1977 she married her husband John Rackley. After 34 years of faithful service, she retired as a Locomotive Engineer from the BNSF Railroad. She was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Her many hobbies included fishing, traveling with her husband in their motor home, and spoiling all of her grand babies.
Jo Ann was proceeded in death by her parents, Luther M. and Mary M. Zimmerman. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband John, her sister Marilyn Palmer of Amarillo; three stepdaughters, nine grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her BFF Penny Wilson.
