He was born on September 18, 1929 in Conroe, Texas to Louis and Nell Abbott.
Douglas was a World War 11 Veteran, served in Japan. He was a master carpenter and a member of the Khiva Shrine, a lifetime mason. He loved his horses and dogs. He was still owner and active with his family. Douglas owned “Doug’s Saddle and Tack”. He married the love of his life, JoAnn Sims Abbott, married for 62 years. She passed on September 17, 2008.
He is survived by his son; Mark Louis Abbott, daughter; Deborah Ann Abbott, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; JoAnn Abbott 9-17-2008 and one son; Van Abbott Jr. 11-14-2001.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
