Vernon Doyle “Papa” Beck, 82, of Amarillo, Tx passed away on January 22nd 2020. He was born to Buren Jay Beck and Verna Beck in Magazine, Arkansas on June 24th 1937. As a small child he, his siblings, and mother relocated to Canute, Oklahoma.
Doyle met Deloris Mayrhofen in Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1952 and married his best friend on August 13th in 1954. Together they raised two boys of their own, Rick and Brent Beck, and any and all cousins and friends that they came in contact with. Doyle opened Beck’s Body Shop fifty plus years ago. What started out as a way of living, doing what he loved to do while passing along lessons to his boys, quickly became the coffee hangout for him and his best of friends, among a few, Corkey, Jim, and Brother Walton (his soul keeper). After many years of service, him and his youngest son decided like all great things do, it must come to an end and sold the shop.
Doyle is survived by his two boys, Ricky Dean and wife Vicki Beck of Amarillo, Tx and Joe Brent of Amarillo, Tx. Four grandchildren Lisa Ann Gossett and husband Daymond Gossett, Steven Dean Beck and wife Christin Beck, Mandy Gleeann Strawn, and Stephanie Denise Beck.
Doyle was happiest when he was with his great grandchildren, Haylee Ann Gossett, Brayden Rye Beck, Katie Jo Gossett, Teagan Nicole Beck, Paetyn Claire Beck, and Emma Glee Strawn. Papa would do anything and everything for his babies. He was surrounded by family and friends and received his wings to Eternity to be with God.
