

Eddra Eva McPherson, 71 of Amarillo passed away January 8, 2014. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Memory Gardens Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Eddra was born June 9, 1942 in Burlington, North Carolina to Ed and Emma Lindsey. She was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Palo Duro High School. In 1964 she graduated from West Texas State University, graduating with a Bachelors and Masters of Science. On April 6, 1966 she married Don McPherson and they were married for over 47 years. Eddra taught for 44 years, 36 of those years at Caprock High School. During the 50th years anniversary of Caprock High School, at the Caprock Legends and Distinguished Alumni celebration, Eddra was named Mrs. Caprock. She loved to watch Gibbs on NCIS and loved to read but her life was teaching. Eddra taught through many health problems and illnesses but nothing would keep her from her teaching, her dedication was endless. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and teacher. She will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents. Eddra is survived by her husband, Don McPherson of Amarillo; son, Ray Don McPherson and wife Suzie of Haslett, Texas; daughter, Janet Beth McPherson of Amarillo; sister, Della Kay Sissel and husband Bill of Amarillo; grandchildren, Jordan Ray McPherson and Makenzie Beth McPherson; nephews, Kevin Duniven of Midland and Bray Gowdy of Amarillo; niece, Candace Hennings of Midland; also by numerous cousins. Family suggest memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society at 3915 Bell St, Amarillo, TX 79109.
