Elmer Leon Harris

Elmer L. Harris, 81 of Amarillo passed away March 18, 2016. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Brother Curtis Redmond officicating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Elmer “Red” was born September 24, 1934 in Pleasant Grove, Texas to Alma and Bennie Harris. On November 27, 1954 he marries Ann Walker in Kidlington, England. Elmer served his country in the Air Force for more than 20 years. He then worked for the VA Hospital in Amarillo for a short time. He was a member of the Eastridge Baptist Church and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and worked as a leader with Boy Scout Troop 62. He is preceded in death by his wife Ann, his parents, his granddaughter Angela Wills and 2 sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Janette Wills and husband Wesley of Amarillo, a son Michael and wife Susan of Amarillo, 3 grandchildren, Stacy Giglio, Crystal Parham and Aaron Harris, and 8 great-grand-children as well as 3 brothers and one sister and his 3 beloved pets. The family suggests memorials be made to either the VA Hospital in Amarillo or the Animal Rescue Shelter. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home
