

Erma Dean Meadows, 86 of Amarillo passed away January 2, 2017. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2016 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Erma Dean Meadows, age 86, of Midland, Texas, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, passed from this life to be with her Savior in heaven on January 2, 2017. Dean was born to Frank and Mozelle Skinner in Gilpin Community, Childress County, Texas on February 28, 1930. She attended Estelline High School where she met her future husband, Earl Meadows. The story goes that Earl and a friend, who were seniors, were registering the new freshman class students and Earl picked out Dean as the prettiest girl. When Earl graduated he went to serve his country in the
United States Navy during World War II. While Earl was in the service, Dean’s family moved to Paradise, Texas, where Dean attended High School. When the war ended and Earl was discharged, he went to Paradise and married Dean on August 10, 1946. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before Earl passed away. They had two children, Linda Rae Meadows and Danny Frank Meadows. When the children started school, Dean attended Amarillo College and Draughn Business schools, where she studied secretarial skills. She worked in that field until she retired. They lived in Amarillo, Texas for 60 years. When their health declined, they moved to Midland, Texas to be near their loving families, leaving behind their church, Paramount Baptist Church, friends, and neighbors who they missed very much. Dean is survived by her daughter, Linda Morgan and husband Gerald; her son, Danny Meadows and wife Sheila; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
