Ernest Arias, age 68, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024. Ernest was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico. A visitation for Ernie will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 5400 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109. A burial will occur Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas.
If you knew Ernie you were blessed with an extraordinary relationship. Full of life and a never ending desire to love others, he embodied what is special about all of us. He never showboated choosing instead to learn and help others. He loved fishing and was known as the neighborhood bicycle repairmen. He was deeply loved by his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins, friends including the staff at Panhandle Centers and Palo Duro Dialysis Center. His gentle presence in our lives will be painfully missed.
Ernest was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on November 7,1955 and took his last breath on May 24, 2024 in Amarillo, Texas.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents Herminio and Manuelita Arias, his brother Raymond Arias and his nephews Rafael Oropeza Jr. and Ronnie Arias.
He is survived by brothers Alfred and wife Martha Lovato, Henry and wife Julie Arias, Judy Arias wife of Raymond, Ruben and wife Renee Arias all of Amarillo and a sister Yolanda Oropeza and husband Raphael of Deerfield, Kansas.
His greatest joys were his many nieces and nephews Daniel, Danisse, Karlyn, Melodie, Pamela, David, Amanda, Nicole, Joseph, Andrea, Cecilia, Ben and Joaquin. He also leaves behind many great nieces and nephews.
