Mrs. Eva M. Shinn was born June 13, 1925 in Tucumcari, New Mexico she passed away suddenly Sunday, April 22, 2018 at home with her family. She moved to Amarillo and lived with her first husband Eugene Tenorio until his death in 1956 leaving her alone with five children. Seven years later she met Terral Shinn at the Avalon Ballroom where Terral went with a friend and by chance met and married the love of his life for the next 55 years. Terral married into a ready made family of five kids to go with his one daughter Rhonda by a previous marriage. Some said it would never last but they proved them all wrong.
They both enjoyed life that included camping, casino trips to Las Vegas, bingo, Juarez Mexico for the music and Eva learned to love baseball and football.
Some nights would find them both watching the Gold Sox play or the Cowboys on tv. She loved to watch polka dancing and loved to dance.
They did make a trip to Corpus Christi where Eva hooked a fish and was told that if she hooked him, she had to land him. She replied she would toss the fishing pole out in the Gulf. She did land that fish and had the sunburn to prove it.Eva worked for the sandwich section of Coca-Cola and retired from there and remained at home. Terral worked for Southwestern Public Service and retired after almost 40 years.
Because of Terral and his love for baseball there were many times in the summer where the Amarillo Dillas and other ball players would come to the house for some home cooked BBQ and fixings. Rule #1 was no girlfriends or wives allowed leaving Eva as the only female at the BBQ.
Eva and Terral are members of the Blessed Sacrament Church on Bolton St. in Amarillo for many years. She would watch church on tv when she could not go to church on Saturday because of the weather.
She will be missed by all, and all will be comforted that she is now in the hands of the Lord and safe for all eternity.
