Born on a small farm outside of Childress, Fred grew up making life-long friends in the surrounding farms and community. He always considered Childress his true home. Following high school, he enlisted in the army and served his country in Europe, rising to the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the army he returned home and married Mary Louise Veal. He worked as a pharmaceutical sales rep for Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company most of his career until retirement. Raising two sons and embracing a bit of an adventuresome spirit, their life involved a lot of time traveling the western part of our country through camping and hiking in any mountains they could get to. They also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
In 1978 he married Susan Hendrickson and raised her son Mark as his own. His life revolved around high school football games as well as visiting his other sons throughout Texas and the State of Washington. Upon retirement he and Susan moved to Post Falls, ID where life involved frequent golf outings and traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Following a divorce, Fred attended his 50th High School Reunion where he became reacquainted with Kathy. They soon married and lived in Post Falls for a short time and later returned to Texas to live in Childress once again. Life soon evolved around settling world politics with old friends at the local doughnut shop.
