G.C. "Gyp" Sims

G.C. “Gyp” Sims, 77 of Amarillo passed away October 9, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel with Jerry Davey officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Gyp was born October 27, 1935 in Giles, Texas to Earl and Frankie Sims. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Gyp married Jeanne Gillham on September 3, 1970 in Clovis, New Mexico. He worked in the roofing business for many years and was an avid sports fan. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Gyp was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be truly missed. Gyp was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry; step-son, Ricky and a granddaughter, Stormie. Gyp is survived by his wife, Jeanne Sims of Amarillo; sons, Rick Sims and Kenneth Sims both of Houston; daughters, Kristi Gray of Amarillo and Becky Sims and Donna Sims both of Alabama; step-children, Tommy Criddle and Debbie Denham of San Antonio; brothers, Kenneth Sims and Clint Sims both of Amarillo and Donald Sims of Midland; sisters, Earlene Gibson and Betty Frey both of Amarillo; also by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
