Jerry was born in Wichita, Kansas to Deward and Grace Good in 1930. He graduated from Andover High School. From 1950 to 1954 he was stationed in Hawaii as a member of the United States Navy Sub-Pac. During those years, he played baseball for the United States Navy Baseball Team. He married Joyce Ann Mayer in 1955. He played and lettered in baseball at the University of Texas, where he achieved All-American status. After graduating from UT in 1958with a degree in physical education, he taught at Dumas High School and was the first DHS baseball coach. After teaching, he entered the fertilizer business. He retired in 1992. Jerry was a lifelong baseball fan, and those who knew him and spent time with him will remember his sense of humor and his gift of storytelling.
Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Good in February of 2019, two brothers, Clifford and Harold Good, and a sister, Dorothy Krueger. Jerry’s memory will be cherished by his wife of 64 years, Joyce “Bubbles” Good, son Terry Good and wife Debra, Daughter Dr. Sally Good and husband David Majoras, Daughter Grace “Gigi” Good; and his eight grandchildren, Teddy North, Sara North, Travis Good, Katy Higby, Scot Sowers, Angie Sowers, Halen Verkamp, and Easton Verkamp.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Gerald Lewis “Jerry” Good.
