Born to Floyd and Alice Main, Glenda grew into a woman whose talents, generosity, and devotion shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband David Wallace; her sister Virginia Bell; her brother Marvin Main; and her son-in-law Larry Lermon.
Glenda was a seamstress extraordinaire, though even that title barely captures her skill. Her sewing machine stitched together the fabric of her family’s life—baby blankets, quilts, flannel pajamas, prom and wedding dresses, and even curtains—each piece made with love, patience, and meticulous care.
Her gifts extended far beyond the sewing room. As a stay-at-home mom, her kitchen was a place of comfort, nourishment, and unmatched homemade favorites. Her fried chicken, pancake batter, cornbread, and tacos were legendary in the family. From the enormous garden she and David tended, Glenda preserved countless jars of vegetables with a mastery few could match. Her sweet pickled beets remain the gold standard, and her cinnamon hot pickles—made through a meticulous multi-day process—were crisp, unforgettable treasures.
But above all, Glenda’s heart was for the family. If you shared even a drop of blood with her, she would move mountains to help you. The Wallace home was a refuge for many over the years, offering safety, warmth, and meals to those who needed them—often delivered by Glenda herself. Glenda and David had their own quiet, generous form of charity: providing work clothes for those just starting out, food for families in a hard season, and steady support without fanfare.
Her greatest joy was in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved fiercely. Time with them was precious to her, and she never felt she saw them often enough.
Glenda is survived by her children Karen Lermon; Brian Wallace and wife Desiree; and Karla Rich and husband Alan; as well as seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, generosity, and devotion will continue to be felt through each of them and through the countless lives she touched.
Glenda will be remembered for her boundless heart, her unmatched talents, and the warmth she brought to every home and every moment. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
