Glenda was born on a ranch near Panhandle, Texas, to Ernest and Melba Moore. She grew up with a love for family and the simple things in life. She attended Clarendon High School, where she graduated and met her husband. From those early years forward, family became the center of her world.
To know Glenda was to know someone who loved deeply and cared wholeheartedly. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a special way of making the people she loved feel cared for, and her family—both her immediate family and her church family—meant everything to her. She cherished time spent together, whether it was sharing stories, laughing around the table, or sitting down for a good card game.
And if there was a game of Skip-Bo being played, Glenda was ready to join in. Glenda's life was not defined by grand things, but by the love she gave so freely in the everyday moments. She was there when her family needed her, she celebrated their joys, shared in their struggles, and loved her family through every season of life. Her love created a legacy that will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, Sister, or Friend.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husbands Robert Whitaker and Thurman Sain; her son Randy Whitaker; her parents, Ernest and Melba Moore; her sister, Josephine Howe; and her brother, Jim Moore.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children and grandchildren, Roger Whitaker and wife Sherri and their children, Troy and wife Falon Whitaker; Shelly Andrews; Chad Chambliss and wife Monica Gerber; Chelsea Cutbirth and husband Cullen; daughter-in-law Melinda Whitaker and her children, Lindsay Whitaker and Ross Whitaker; and Rodney Whitaker and wife Stephanie and their children, Sara Beth Crowley, LaShea Whitaker, Nathan Whitaker, Victoria Dart, and Miranda Henderson. She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren, each of whom added their own special joy to her life.
Though our hearts are heavy with the loss of Glenda, we can be grateful for the years we were given with her and for the love she poured into each of us. Her voice, her laughter, her stories, her love of a good game of Skip-Bo, and the countless little things that made her who she was will never be forgotten.
