Gwendolyn Kay Oliver

Gwendolyn Kay Sheehan Oliver, 90 of Amarillo passed away on May 24, 2012. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 28, 2012 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel with Pastor Jerry Davey officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in San Angelo under the direction of Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell, Amarillo, Texas. Gwen was born on November 20, 1921 in New Castle, Texas to Harry Curran and Maude Burdick Sheehan. As a child, she moved to Eastland County, Texas. She graduated from Pioneer High School. Gwen married William H. Oliver on March 5, 1954. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, a Lady Shriner and belonged to the Garden Club in Temple, Texas.

She and Bill made their home in many exciting cities across the south before retiring to their home on Lake Buchanan. Bill and Gwen shared a wonderful life. They enjoyed entertaining friends and family, dancing, music, travelling, Las Vegas, fishing and dominos. Gwen moved to Amarillo, in 2009, where she made many more wonderful friends at Potter House and The Clairmont. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband in 2006. Gwen is survived by her two sisters, Nedra Hunnicutt of Channing and Betty Johnson of San Angelo as well as many loving nieces and nephews and life -long friends.
