Hannelore Inga Müller O’Leary of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, at the age of 89. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Llano Cemetery.
Born on July 4, 1935, in Würzburg, Germany, Hannelore was the eldest of three children of Adolf and Katharina Funk Müller. She married Joseph E. O’Leary on March 20, 1953, and soon moved to the United States, where she embraced her new life and learned English.
Hannelore was a strong, beautiful woman and a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found joy in volunteering at the VA Care Home, where she loved helping with Bingo games. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting gifts for family and friends and spoiling her beloved pets. Her culinary skills, especially in German cooking, were renowned among her family and friends.
Hannelore cherished her childhood memories of riding her pet pig and picking dandelions for rabbits, reflecting the joy and simplicity of her early years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, her daughter Kathleen O’Leary, grandson Branden L. Bellinghausen, and brother-in-law Volker Heckelmann.
Hannelore is survived by her children, Patrick J. O’Leary and wife Yolanda, Michael E. O’Leary and wife Teresa, and Elizabeth A. Bellinghausen and husband Brian. She is also survived by her stepson Heribert Bronnbauer and wife Sonja, sisters Christl Heckelmann and Renate Hinz and husband Dieter, as well as nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Hannelore will be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and the indelible mark she left on the lives of those she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
