Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 2 P.M. in the Bell Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, 5401 S. Bell, with Bishop L. Britt conducting. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery Garden of Honor where she will lie in rest next to her beloved husband, William Edward (Buddy) Butler. Services are entrusted to Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 S. Bell, Amarillo, Texas.
Helen was born the last of three children and only daughter of John Stanton Pierce and Hermine Ivy Gohry Pierce on February 08, 1934 in Dallas, Texas. She married the love of her life at sweet 16 on February 17, 1950 in Dallas and was later sealed with him for time and all eternity in the Dallas Texas Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 12, 1989. Her entire life was centered in her husband, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; with her hallmarks being love and faith. She also loved a variety of pets and enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her husband, Helen is preceded in death by her parents John and Hermine Pierce, one brother John S. Pierce Jr., sister in law Betty Jo (Jody) Collingsworth Pierce, daughter in law Terri Lynn Detton Butler, and son in law Keith Michael Northrop. She is survived by her brother Marvin Eugene (Ducky) Pierce of San Antonio, daughters Jerilyn Brooks and husband Neil of Pampa, Texas, Sandra Kay Northrop of Copperas Cove, Texas, Deborah Ann Pfeiffer and husband Gary of Amarillo, Texas; son William Edward (Bill) Butler and wife Rizalyn Jingle of Mesa, Arizona; her 16 dear grandchildren, 27 dear great-grandchildren, numerous loved nieces and nephews, and her cockatiel Danny Bird.
