

Helen Schulte 84, died Wednesday October 19, 2016. Helen was born November 28, 1931 in Happy, Texas. She was the second of three children born to Gerhard Ackfeld and Rose Irlbeck Ackfeld.
Helen married Marvin Schulte on July 6, 1954. They lived all their married lives together in Amarillo and celebrated 60 years of marriage in July 2014. Marvin predeceased her on August 22, 2014.
Helen was a registered nurse and retired from Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital after many years of dedicated service.
Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother. In her younger years she was active in Cub Scouts with her sons. Helen and Marvin were founding members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was active with Altar Guild, Parish Council, and served as Eucharistic Minister.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Heritage Convalescent Center for their dedicated care of Helen for the past four years.
Also a special thanks to BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blessed Sacrament building fund, BSA Hospice of the Southwest, or the Golden Spread Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rose Marie Metcalf.
Survivors include James and Janet Schulte of Amarillo, David Schulte of Amarillo, Greg and Donna Schulte of Rowlett, and Pam and Bill Detwiler of San Angelo.Grandchildren include Christopher Schulte, Nicholas Schulte, Katie Schulte, Sarah Schulte Mills and husband Jimi Mills, Shelby Schulte, and Megan Detwiler.Other survivors include Helen’s sister Catherine Fischbacher of Canyon, and several nieces and nephews.
