

Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gene Hudgins and the Rev. Rob Blum officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Herschel L. Browning was born May 7, 1935, in Shamrock to Lewis Felix and Tennie Browning. He grew up in Gainesville and Great Bend, Kan.
On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Patty Nimmo in Dale, Ill. They were married 63 years. Herschel moved his family to Amarillo in 1965, and his family flourished and his Christian faith grew strong. He worked for Safeway Grocery Inc. for 17 years in Oklahoma and Texas, then became co-owner and operator of Browning Trucking with his son, Randy Browning, until his retirement.
Herschel’s enjoyments in life were the love he had for his family, church, his dog, Sassy, and taking road-trips on his Harley with his sons. He also took many enjoyable trips with his daughter, Tracy.
Herschel has been a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church since 1965. Herschel never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He was loved by all and will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; and a granddaughter, Amy.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Browning of Amarillo; three sons, Frank Browning, David Browning and Randy Browning, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Tracy Browning of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren, Cole, Hailee, Ian, Kirt, Bruce, Brent, Bradley, Tara, Sagan and Darus; five great-grandchildren, Reese, Talton, Drayven, Braylen and Brianna; and a sister, Sue Dishman.
