I. G. Barrett was born August 9, 1929 to W. T. and Ada Barrett in Altus, OK. I. G. married the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Margaret Ann Sangster while working for the Santa Fe Railroad in Kansas. I. G. worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years as a clerk and later Depot Agent, with his longest stint of 20 years at the station in Stratford, TX. He loved his years with the railroad and all of his railroad friends and customers. I.G. also served his country in the Navy during the Korean war as a telegrapher aboard ships at sea, including the USS President Jackson. I.G. will be forever loved and missed by his wife, family, and friends. He especially loved his “outlaws” as he called them, Maggie’s family from Kansas, who treated him as one of their own.
