

Iola M. Davis, 86 of Amarillo passed away October 21, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Bolton St. Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Green officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Mrs. Davis was born September 28, 1926 in Arney, Texas to Claude and Bessie Fox. She graduated from Amarillo High School. Her parents originally came to Arney in a covered wagon. Iola married Earl Davis on October 29, 1948 here in Amarillo. She worked at Furr Food and also co-owned Earl’s Produce Stand with her husband. They also sold produce at the T-Anchor Flea Market for many years. Iola loved her church and her church family. She was a charter member of Bolton St. Baptist Church. She lived for Sunday’s. Iola loved to quilt and was also known as a very good cook, especially her coconut pie. Iola was someone who never met anyone that she did not like. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; 2 brothers, Carl Fox and Claude Fox, Jr.; and her sister, Jimmie Lou Davis. Iola is survived by her son, Kenneth W. Davis and wife Shelley of Fritch; brother, Hugh Fox of Dennison; grandchildren, Dwayne Earl Davis of Fritch, Kenneth Todd Davis of South Carolina, Kristofer Anaya and wife Jaime of Borger and Karrie Lay and fiancé Heath Kirk of Borger; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Leann, Jacob, Alexi and Karley, Anthony, Mikey, Shay, Ambria, Royce, Angel, Sam, K.K. and Daegan; great-great-grandkids, Lane, Eric and Brandon; sisters-in-law, Peggy Vanergriff and Evelyn Davis; she is also survived by two very special friends, Melody Wells and Brenda Gann; several nieces, nephews and cousins and also by many good friends and neighbors. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Interim Healthcare and the volunteers for Meals on Wheels for all their loving care for Iola.
