He was born on October 13, 1943, in Portales, New Mexico, to John and Nora Pulliam. Jack was a dedicated truck driver for many years, most recently working for Baldwin, Kimrad, and Perry Williams. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help anyone in need. A talented gardener, Jack loved his yard and could often be found tending to it, admiring his bird baths and windchimes, or sitting on the porch with his loving wife. He even built birdhouses, enjoying the simple pleasures of watching them come to life. Family was the most important thing to Jack, and above all, he loved his wife deeply. Jack’s favorite times were spent with family, especially cooking on the grill for everyone to enjoy. He loved his girls dearly. When he wasn’t watching football on Saturdays and Sundays, he could be found watching his favorite westerns—most often Gunsmoke. Jack had a kind and generous heart and would do anything he could for anyone. He also had an ornery side that brought laughter and joy to those around him. He enjoyed fishing and loved traveling with his wife Shirley, making memories wherever they went.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Pulliam; his sons, Bill “PeeWee” Pulliam and wife Misty, Christopher Wayne Pulliam, and John Henry Pulliam and wife Shelly; his daughters, Sis Merchant and Misty Sue Brown; his brother, Oscar Pulliam; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora Pulliam; his siblings, Mary and Jim Dickerson and Mae and Carl Higginbotham; and his grandson, Dillon Mahan.
Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
