James Carver, age 89, of Amarillo, Texas passed away from this life and was received into Heaven on Monday, July 17, 2023. Memorial services are scheduled for 2pm, Saturday, at The Colonies Church of Christ. The family will receive visitors for a viewing from 5-7pm, Thursday, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will have private graveside services.
Jim was born on April 28, 1934, in Amarillo, Texas, to Riley and Esther Carver. He graduated high school in 1952 and married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Litle, on August 15, 1953. Jim worked as an electrician for over 70 years and taught the IBEW apprenticeship for over 35 years. He mentored many young men in the electrical industry and counseled them in their personal lives when needed. The Carver's played an active role in several Churches of Christ, including the establishment of a Church in Channing and North Seminole. Jim also served as Deacon in charge of education, recruiting teachers and gathering supplies. The last several years they have been active members of the Colonies Church of Christ.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Esther; and sister, Bettye Carver-Sharp.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 69 years, Gloria; his three children, Terry and wife, Jana, Ted and wife, Brenda, and Tonja Littlefield and husband, Dennis; 8 precious grandchildren, Lissa Eason, Tisha Morris, Kristin DeLosSantos, Golden Littlefield, Mindy Fewell, Justin Carver, Nikki Adams, and Jeremy Carver; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayland and Barbara Danile and Tommy and Emmalee McDowell; and many nieces and nephews. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
