Jana Dene Young 66 of Amarillo, TX. passed from this world August 27, 2025. Born 1-15-1959 in Amarillo, TX to Eugene and Alta Dene Young. She grew up in Amarillo until she was 13 years old. At that time, she moved to Austin, TX where she lived at and attended Travis State School. When she was 20 years old, she qualified to move to a group home in Marble Falls, TX. There she met her best friend, Julie. Later she moved to Bertram, TX where she lived at the Blue Bonnet Group Home. As she got older, she moved into the Woodview Home where her and Julie were roommates. After having a stroke in March of 2025, her family moved her to the Heritage Convalescent Home in Amarillo. Jana loved life and people. She had a contagious laugh that made everyone else laugh. She loved Christmas and would make a list for Santa Claus. On her birthday Jana would take everyone at the group home out to eat. She also loved her birthday and if you didn’t send her a gift/card she would let you know. Jana loved giving the family gifts at Christmas. At age 20 she was able to start flying home a few times a year. While on the plane she loved seeing babies and would entertain them and whoever sat close to her. When family picked her up from the airport other passengers would come up to the family at baggage claim and say how much they enjoyed sitting with her on the plane. Jana was known as the Alpha at her group home and would keep everyone in line. The house parents loved Jana and took good care of her. When Jana met someone, she would shake their hand and say, “I’m Jana Young.” Family would like to acknowledge Jana’s other family, the special ladies at her group home: Pearline, Sharon, Joyce, Debbie, and Julie. Also, her loving house parents Diane, Becky, and Wendy. Thank you for loving her.
