OBITUARY

Jean Gunn

November 20, 1929July 26, 2020

Dorothy Jean Gunn, 90 , of Amarillo, formally of Lubbock, died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her home. A memorial celebration will be at a later date.

Jean was born November 20, 1929 in Lubbock. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1947 and attended Texas Tech University. She married Ben Gunn February 3, 1951, in Lubbock. Jean was a legal secretary for over 30 years working at the law firms of Crenshaw, Dupree, and Milam and at McCleskey, Harriger, Brazil, and Graf, both in Lubbock. She was a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, University Women at Texas Tech, Golden Girls and the Techsans Garden Club in Lubbock.

She was a lifetime member of Friends of the Library and PTA. She and Ben were also members of the West Texas Scottish Heritage Society and Hub City Wheels. She was an avid reader and loved to travel.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ben, and a son Joel Steven Gunn.

Survivors include her son Jon Gunn and wife Melanie of Crestview, Florida; daughter Sara Gibson and husband Tim of Amarillo; three grandchildren Christopher Gunn of Indiana; Alex Gibson and wife Kim of Lubbock and Abby Gibson of Lubbock.

The family suggest memorials be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th, Suite 100, Amarillo, TX 79106.

Jean was a precious person. I didn't know her well, but loved to visit her because she was always so easy to talk to and had such a good sense of humor. She was kind-hearted and always had nice things to say about others.
