Jeanine Glafrey Myers

Visitation will be held in the Gospel Chapel Church, 1617 Hazell Ave. in Amarillo on Friday, November 15, 2019 beginning at 5pm. A celebration of Jeanine’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 12pm in the Gospel Chapel, with Joe Myers presiding. A private burial will be held at a later time in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jeanine was born on November 19, 1933 in Little River, Oklahoma to Leo and Ruth Simmons. She graduated from high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She married Joseph Myers on December 17, 1954. Together, they moved to Amarillo in 1966 to start the Gospel Chapel Church, which opened on December 23rd. She served God her whole life. She held many titles working for the family church. She was the cook, piano player, and so many others. Her true job was taking care of the home. She was described as a wonderful, loving, and caring mother who only saw the good in everyone. Jeanine adored her grandchildren and loved them unconditionally, just as they did her.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in honor of Jeanine to the Gospel Chapel Church.

Jeanine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, and siblings Milton Simmons, Robert Simmons, Charlene Brown, and a grandchild. Those left to cherish her memory are her children Jonathan Myers and wife Brenda, Joseph Max Myers and wife Terri, Jeffrey Myers and wife Sherry, Julia Myers, and Jalinda Myers-Raley and husband Mike all of Amarillo; sisters Sharon Coons, Cherry Fisher and husband Norm, and Jan Varner and husband Warren of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Jennifer Thornton, Joshua Myers, Jodie Wheeler, Charity Hoover, Jill Cocroft, Jamie Polite, Jessica Hunnicutt, and Jason Myers; as well as her great grandchildren Rylan Stephens, Jordan Wheeler, Jacob Myers, Nathan Thornton, Deklyn Hoover, Cortland Hunnicutt, Jessie Wheeler, Jaxon Cocroft, Jamison Cocroft, Khloe Polite, and Taelyn Hoover; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
