Jerry Cade, 80 of Amarillo passed away May 9, 2013. : Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Interment will be in Leesville, Louisiana on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Mr. Jerry Cade was born on June 8, 1932 to Alonzo Earl and Mattie Mae. He had a twin brother that died at a very young age that he always thought about daily. He came from a very large family he was the youngest of 8. He fought for the U.S. Army in the Korean War where he was wounded twice in 1951, which awarded him the Purple Heart. He was then stationed at Fort Polk, LA where he met a waitress, Rosa, who became the love of his life. They married each other in Leesville, LA in 1937. After that they moved to Amarillo, Texas where they stayed. He worked at the Post Office and retired after 33 years. He was a very religious man spreading the word of god to all he knew. In his free time he enjoyed watching western and classic movies. Most important of all he was an amazing family man. He was a great loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. He had a heart of gold and would always be there for someone in their time of need. Survivors include his wife Rosa Cade; oldest son Jerry Carl and wife Janie; daughter Mary; youngest son Larry; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
