Dr. Jerry W. Beasley passed away in Amarillo, TX on Monday September the 21, 2026 at the age of 79. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday October 3, 2026, in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church at 1208 S. Tyler Street in Amarillo with the Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at 6969 East 1-40 Access Road.
Dr. Beasley was born in Groom, Texas on April 15, 1947, to Milton and Alice Beasley. He married Tresea Beasley in Lubbock, Texas on July 17,1971. Dr. Beasley graduated from Memphis High School in 1965. He attended Texas Tech University where he received 3 degrees, a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Education, and a Doctor of Education.
During his lifetime Dr. Beasley was a dedicated Christian who served Jesus as a longtime Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. As a coach he worked with the sports program at Needville High School in Needville, TX; Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, TX; and Abernathy High School in Abernathy, TX. After his coaching career Dr. Beasley was a counselor for area schools through Region 16 Education Service Center. He was also the Director of Head Start for Region 16 ESC and retired from that position in 2004. Dr. Beasley enjoyed raising cats, reading, playing golf, watching sports on TV, and being an avid fan of all sports teams at Texas Tech University. He also enjoyed traveling and playing 42.
Dr. Beasley was preceded in death by his parents, his older brothers Milton and Don, and his sister-in-law Mary Sue Beasley.
He is survived by his wife, his nieces Mary Alice Adams and husband Benjamin and Melissa Flowers; his twin Goddaughters Victoria Hughes and husband Diamon and Alicia Reyna and husband Rafael; and his nephew Billy Don Beasley and wife Gayla.
