Joe Frank Rascoe

He was born September 2, 1935, in Lone Oak, Texas, to Claude and O’Dell Rascoe. Some of Joe’s fondest childhood memories were of growing up on cotton farms. From an early age, he learned to handle and drive tractors, developing the remarkable mechanical ability that would become a defining part of his life. After graduating from high school, Joe entered the United States Air Force, where he served for four years and taught flight ejection. While stationed off base, he learned the skills of mobile home installation, which became his lifelong vocation. His lifelong best friends, Cliff and Al Collins, supported him throughout his work and shared many years of friendship with him. Joe married Pat King in 1956. On November 26, 1957, his son, Michael Joe Rascoe, was born—the most memorable occasion of Joe’s life. Michael inherited his father’s mechanical abilities, and the two shared a special bond. They enjoyed many weekends together riding motorcycles at the Canadian River and working on their motorcycles side by side. On December 3, 1977, Joe married Bethany Fenton. They enjoyed 48 years together, building a life filled with friendship, family, and shared memories. Throughout his life, Joe had many friends whom he helped along the way. He was highly thought of and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Bethany Fenton Rascoe; his son, Michael Joe Rascoe of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Rascoe, Jessica Hudgens, Ashleigh Brumley, Kimberly Brumley, Haylee Potter, and Katelyn Brumley; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Ruth Davis of Burleson, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Rascoe (December 16, 1976); his mother, Florene O’Dell Bible (December 29, 2007); his brothers, C.D. Rascoe (August 29, 2011) and Sammy Gordon Rascoe (December 10, 2003); and his sisters, Ann Autrey (August 26, 2021), Reta Sue Rascoe (April 25, 1943–August 3, 1950), and Kathy Gillette (August 4, 2015).

Joe will be remembered for his mechanical talent, his willingness to help others, his friendships, and, most of all, his love for his family. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched and in the family and friends who loved him.
