John Robert Marshall Jr.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday June 7, 2013 in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Pioneer Chapel with Jerry Davey, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Stratford Cemetery in Stratford. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

John was born Aug. 8, 1923, to John Robert and Panetha Marshall in Harrison Ark. He was raised in Stratford. John served in the Army during World War II. After being discharged, he moved to Amarillo. John worked for BWXT Pantex from 1951 to 1986. At the time of his retirement he was a mechanical supervisor. He was a Mason and an avid motorcycle rider. He enjoyed the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol Marshall, in 2010; a brother, Ira Gene Marshall; and a sister, Mae Plunk.

Survivors include a son, John Robert “Buffalo” Marshall III and wife Kathryn of Amarillo; a daughter, DeAnna Randall and husband Mark of Amarillo; his grandchildren, John Robert Ake and wife Cindy of Weatherford, Melissa Marshall and husband Pat Jantz of Oklahoma City, Robert David Randall and Melissa Jimeniz of Amarillo and Melanie Holcomb and husband David of Prosper; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
