June Jeanette London-Windes, 89, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by love. Born on February 17, 1936, in West Alton, Missouri, June was the daughter of a toll collector on the Lewis & Clark Bridge and a devoted homemaker. Her upbringing along the Missouri River instilled in her a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys in life. June spent most of her adult life in Amarillo, Texas, where she and her beloved husband, Lowell “Dean” London, built a beautiful log cabin home together in 1989—a dream they brought to life with their own hands. Alongside their home, they also built a barn where they raised goats and cared for countless animals over the years. Together, they tended to hundreds of goats and other small farm animals, including two much-loved potbelly pigs named Thelma and Louise. Their land became a lively and loving little farm-like sanctuary that reflected June’s gentle spirit and nurturing heart. She worked as a regional representative for Safeway Foods, later continuing her career with Homeland, where her dedication, humor, and kindness touched many. June had a heart full of love and a spirit that brightened every room she entered. She found joy in caring for animals, gardening, traveling, baking, photography, and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her sons, Steve and Jerry Vatole, and her brother, Dale Windes, parents, Grover Cleveland and Helen May Greenwaldt. She is survived by her husband, Dean London; daughter-in-law, Ranea Goodson-Vatole; grandchildren Sarah Skeels and husband Rick of Sterling, Colorado; Toni Garcia of Sterling, Colorado; Jerry Vatole Jr. and wife Shannon of Elizabeth, Colorado; Chris Kimbrell and wife Christina of Amarillo, Texas; Johnny Vatole of Boulder, Colorado; and Tara Vatole of Homer, Alaska. She is also lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren Austin and Jax Vatole, Venice Skeels, Lily Garcia, Kailee and Colt Kimbrell, and her great-great-great-granddaughter, Baylor Ferril. June’s gentle presence, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
