Laura Lea Hollenstein, 65, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00am, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, with Deacon Blaine Westlake, of St. Thomas the Apostle Church officiating.
Laura was born on February 25, 1958, to Joseph Moews and Patricia Mendenhall, in Langley, Virginia. She graduated from Caprock High School, class of 1976. Laura spent her life as a homemaker for her family all of her life. She loved being anywhere outdoors, where she could be found gardening and enjoying nature. She was an avid lover of traveling across the world with her husband, Billy. She loved the time she spent in Flora-Bama and shopping in Ecuador, as soon as she figured out the money of course. Laura had visited 38 states before her son had started school.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents.
Laura is survived by her husband, Billy Hollenstein; her sons, David Chaparro, and Mykal Hollenstein, of Amarillo; her brother, Mike Moews, of Oklahoma City; sister, Krista Massman, of Fairview,Oklahoma; Grandchildren, David, Lisa, Juanita, Joshua, and Abel; and one great-grandchild, Prince.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations to be made to the High Plains Epilepsy Foundation, of Amarillo.
