The family will receive guests on Wednesday, January 09, 2019 from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 Bell St. in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10 am in the Griggs Schooler Gordon Pioneer Chapel with Steve Nelson presiding. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Lemuel was born January 20, 1940 in Mayflower, Arkansas to Alvie and Clem Lemarr. He left high school in the eleventh grade, enlisting in the United States Air Force for eight years, spending one year in Vietnam as a jet mechanic. After his service to his country, he would obtain his GED, and later, his associate degree as an auto mechanic. For most of his life, he would work in the natural gas field putting his degree to use as a mechanic. In his later life, he enjoyed building, but loathed the idea of sitting still. He always seemed to find his way into working. His children would say that even on vacation, he could be found helping build a new barn or some sort of structure. Lemuel was described as a leader of his family. He loved his children, but was stern and taught them about life and how to be ready for anything the world would throw at them.
Lemuel is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Harolynne, sons Jeff and David Lemarr of Amarillo, and Matthew Lemarr of Pittsburg, Texas; daughter Jennifer Arellano of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, one sister, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
