Lenora M. Hancock, 90 of Amarillo passed away January 7, 2013. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Boise City Cemetery in Boise City, Oklahoma by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Lenora was born March 7, 1922 in Des Moines, N.M. She was raised there and after marriage lived for 59 years in the Boise City Oklahoma area. In 1990 she and her husband, George Hancock moved to Amarillo where she worked for Jack B. Kelly Trucking for the next 17 years. Through her long career she worked in banking and other clerical positions. Due to declining health and afflicted with Parkinson’s disease she moved into The Cottages at Quail Creek and was residing there until her death. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mollie Brown; brother, John Brown and twin sisters, Hallie and Callie Brown. Lenora is survived by her husband of 72 years, George Hancock of Amarillo; son, George Hancock, Jr. and wife Wilma of Midland; three grandchildren, Karma, Kevin and Sonia; and seven great-grandchildren, Ty, Dara, Libby, Bennet, Megan, Katherine, and Abby; also by her brother, Herman R. Brown and a number of nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for research seeking a cure and treatment for Parkinson’s.
