Leo Joe Kirscht
Amarillo-Leo Joe Kirscht, 83, died (April 14, 2018) in Amarillo.Tx.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 19, 2018 in
Saint Stephen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Cole officiating.
He will be laid to rest in the East Mausoleum in Memorial Park Cemetery
in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Memorial Park.
Leo was born December 8, 1934 in Pueblo, Colorado to Peter and Erma Kirscht.
He attended Pueblo Public Schools, graduating from Centennial High School in 1952.
He married Esther Lou Voss in 1953 and together they had three children. After
Esther died in 1997 he married Joy Bachman in 2003. He went to work in the Engineering Department of the Santa Fe Railway Company in 1952. He held several positions in several locations with Santa Fe, retiring as Field Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona having worked 35 years for Santa Fe. He moved back to Amarillo in
1988. He was a member of Saint Stephen and Covenant Sunday School Class. He was a volunteer in several different ministries in his beloved church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther, a son Leo Joseph
Kirscht, a daughter Katheryn Kay Kirscht, a step daughter Rita Kim Butler, and a brother James Kirscht.
He is survived by his wife Joy, a daughter Debbie Chavez and husband Carlos
of Amarillo, a stepson Mark Elliott and wife Sheila of Fritch, a step daughter Lori
Lee and husband Doug Walterscheid of Amarillo, brothers Sam Kirsch of Gulfport, Mississipi, Glenn Kirscht of Sherman,TX. and Bob Kirscht and wife Linda of Englewood,CO. a sister Janice and husband Jim Claxton of Lakewood,CO. a
daughter-in-law Jackie Kirscht of Amarillo; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests memorials be to Saint Stephen United Methodist church fund to aid families in need of assistance, 4600 S. Western St.
