

Leon Bernard Lange, loving husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025.He was born on March 9, 1953, in San Angelo, Texas, to Gilbert and Olga Lange, the third of six children. Leon graduated from Alamo Catholic High School in 1971 and began a long and dedicated career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked from 1974 until his retirement in 2014. On July 10, 1976, Leon married the love of his life, Rose, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Amarillo. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship. Leon loved the Lord and found joy in music, fishing, and the great outdoors. A talented musician, he played locally with several bands, including Kickstart, Dryland Dreamers, Danny Freeze and the Earthlings, and his family band, The Amarillo Sunsets. He will be remembered as a kind, humble, hardworking, and honest man whose love and laughter touched everyone who knew him. Leon is survived by his devoted wife, Rose; sons Nathan Lange and his wife Alli, and Jeremy Lange and his wife Katelynn; siblings Gwen Gabel, Mike Lange, JoAnn Moore, and Janell Terry; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Olga Lange, and one sibling. Leon’s legacy of love, music, and integrity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
