

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 5005 W. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Brian Hesse officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Leona Rose Hensel Hendricks was born May 18, 1920, in Dodge City, Kan. She moved to Amarillo in 1925 and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1937. She married Hudson “Red” Hendricks on Aug. 3, 1941.
She worked for State Farm Insurance for 20 years, was an agent for Members Mutual for 15 years and retired in 1985. She was the youngest charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Leona enjoyed sewing and reading. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hudson “Red,” in 2005; a daughter, Barbara Lee Turner, in 2002; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Barker and husband Roger of Mabank and Sharon Burks and husband Bill of Midland; her grandchildren, Janet Gerencser, Marnie Cooper, Robert Crawford, Todd Crawford, Mark Watkins and Jerrod James; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Trinity Lutheran Church, 5005 W. Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79106.
