Lona Dean Bentley Chilton, 79 of Laguna Vista, Texas passed away September 24, 2013. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Lona Dean was born March 8, 1934 in Era, Texas to Hughie and Edna Bentley. She lived her entire adult life in Amarillo. Professionally, Lona was known in the insurance industry for her experience and expertise in the insurance claim business, spending many years at Cowan Claim Service and later, Ethridge Claims. She was an avid bridge player, making many friends through her bridge clubs. In her younger years, Lona sang on the radio and at church. She had a beautiful voice. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Darwin Gerald Chilton and her older sister, Ilene Pavillard Carter. Lona is survived by her younger sister, Maurine Conatser Bray of Laugna Vista; nieces and nephews (her “children”), Phillip Conatser of Laguna Vista, Teresa Conatser Healy of Glastonbury, CT, Dan Pavillard and Kay Kesterson of Amarillo; and Debra Stein of Dallas. The family suggest memorials be sent to the SPCA of Amarillo, as Lona was such a devoted lover of her pets.
