Lucille Jane (Graham) Dunn was born on August 3, 1936, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, to Harley and Anna Graham. She grew up alongside her beloved older siblings, Hazel and Carl, and cherished the adventures of farm life. Whether it was picking wild berries with her mother, tending to animals, or helping her father with daily chores, Lucille found joy in being outdoors and embraced every moment of rural life.
From a young age, Lucille dreamed of "going west." That dream began to unfold when her brother introduced her to his college classmate, Jim Dunn. The two fell in love, married, and started their life together in Nebraska. While living in Lincoln, they welcomed a daughter and two sons, completing their loving family.
Later in life, “going west” turned into “going south,” as Lucille and Jim made their home in Texas. Lucille worked for the Amarillo Independent School District, serving in various roles including in the cafeteria, library department, and ultimately as a secretary in the administration building. She retired after a dedicated and impactful career.
Lucille and Jim shared a love for travel and made lasting memories on trips to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, Disney World, and Hudson Bay, where they had the rare opportunity to see polar bears. Summers were joyfully spent in the sand hills of Nebraska, where Jim’s family had farmed and ranched for over 100 years.
Lucille treasured her family and friends deeply. She loved the adventure of camping on their land by the Loup River and found immense joy in spending time with loved ones. Known for her generous spirit and compassionate heart, Lucille loved all people and never wanted anyone to suffer or go without. She strived to live a Christlike life, hoping to one day hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, and her devoted husband of 60 years.
She is survived by her daughter Kathy Harrington and husband Ron; sons David Dunn and wife Joanie, and Dana Dunn and wife Robin; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lucille's legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service for Lucille will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 3:00 PM at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3001 Bell Ave, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
