

Marion Wilson, 99 of Amarillo passed away November 11, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at South Georgia Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home 6969 I-40 East. An honor guard of confederate soldiers will act as pallbearers. Marion was born February 8, 1913 in Delaware County, Oklahoma to Hamilton and Melissa Wilson. He married Virginia Henard on August 22, 1938. She preceded him in death in April of 2005 after 67 years of marriage. He retired from ICX Freight Lines in 1975 where he was the purchasing agent. Marion was the last living son of a confederate soldier in Texas and was a member of the local Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a Gideon who distributed bibles all across the panhandle and spoke in nearly every church as well. He was a Master Mason for over 70 years and a member of the Palo Duro Masonic Lodge. Marion was a founding member and deacon at Cliffside Baptist Church and also a member and deacon at South Georgia Baptist Church. He was a man who was always content in every aspect of his life. More than anything he loved the Lord and loved serving him. He lead many people to Jesus. Marion was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Virginia Wilson of 67 years. Marion is survived by his son, Larry Wilson and wife Sue of Denton; daughter, Sandra Kinser of Amarillo; also by 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
