Marjorie Anna Richards Hine went home to be with the Lord on February 23, 2025, at the age of 96. Remarkably, this was exactly 80 years to the day since her beloved brother, H.V. Richards, was killed in Germany during WWII. Marjorie was born on May 26, 1928, to H.V. Richards and Lillian Jimmie Allen Richards in Loraine, TX. In July 1948, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Hine, in Abilene, TX.
They spent a few years in Littlefield, TX, before settling in Ruidoso, NM, where Marjorie worked in banking. She cherished her time in Ruidoso, especially summers spent on her deck, feeding and watching her beloved hummingbirds. In the fall, she enjoyed hiking trails to admire the golden leaves of the aspen trees. Some of her fondest memories included packing up breakfast supplies and cooking in a cast iron skillet on Mount Monjeau—a tradition her family adored. No one ever left her home hungry.
To her family, she was known by many names: Mom to her two daughters, Grandmother to her two grandsons, and Gigi to her eight great-grandchildren and her great-great-granddaughter. In 1988, Marjorie left her beloved home in Ruidoso to move to Amarillo so Jimmy could be closer to the VA Hospital. She lovingly cared for him until his passing in 1997. Afterward, she remained in Amarillo, where she became an avid couponer and continued to find joy in the simple things.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and sisters, Lillian Satterwhite of Amarillo, TX, and Edith Beall of Ruidoso, NM.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Bellar and husband Jerry of Sudan, TX, and Catherine Hine of Lubbock, TX; her grandsons, Jason Bellar and wife Jennifer of Ohio, and Justin Bellar and wife Laryn of Shallowater, TX; and her cherished great-grandchildren: Jaden Bellar and wife Lisa, Jaylen Bellar, and Jack Bellar of Ohio, as well as Evan Bellar and wife Kam, Jordie Bellar, Sophia Bellar, Kohen Bellar, and Ollie Bellar of Shallowater, TX. She also had the joy of meeting her first great-great-granddaughter, Millie Bellar of Ohio, and was looking forward to welcoming two more great-great-grandchildren in the coming months. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Marjorie loved her family fiercely and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
