Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service honouring Marty’s life will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025, with Danny Richardson officiating. For specific services times, please contact an immediate member of the family.
Marty was born on September 20, 1942, to Arthur and Myra Richardson in Beaumont, Texas. He spent his childhood in Livingston, Texas, where he learned the values that would shape his life—hard work, honesty, love of family, and his deep appreciation for the outdoors.
As a young man, Marty ventured to Fresno, California after joining the United States Navy. As fate would have it, he met the love of his life, Sandra Cloud. In 1966 they married, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted nearly six decades. Together they built a happy home rooted in love and unwavering devotion to their family. Their hearts were further blessed by the arrival of their two children, Debbie and Danny, who remained the pride and joy of Marty’s life.
Marty proudly served his country in the United States Navy for three years. His time in the service strengthened his sense of duty, resilience, and loyalty—qualities he carried with him long after his military years. He spoke often of the friendships he made and the lessons he learned, and he remained grateful for the opportunity to serve.
A true outdoorsman, Marty found peace and joy in God’s creation. Whether he was camping beneath the open sky, casting a fishing line in quiet waters, or hunting on crisp Texas mornings, he felt most at home surrounded by nature. These moments weren’t just hobbies for Marty—they were treasured times he often shared with family, creating memories that will be carried forward for generations. Marty was a 50-year member of the “He Man Woman Haters” club with a group of lifelong friends that enjoyed camping and fishing every year.
Those who knew Marty remember him as a man who loved to tell stories of his childhood adventures, high school misadventures, military service and time with friends and family. He made friends easy, loved to talk and would pick on the people he liked. He had a gruff exterior at times, but if you were in his circle of family or friends, he was loyal and sincerely loved you.
Above all, Marty cherished his role as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Though he didn’t always express himself in the gentlest manner, he cared for his family deeply. He bragged on family and often recounted special times with all of them. Marty is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms into his eternal home.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy; daughter, Debbie Burkham, and her husband, Todd; son, Danny Richardson, and his wife, Kristie. Marty’s legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren—Lauren and her husband, Miro; Jordan; Danny Jr. and his wife, Emma; Joshua; and Alexis—as well as his great-grandchildren, Niko and Lily. He also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and many dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Though he will be greatly missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, and resting safely in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
