Mary Louise Kearns Hellmann

Mary Louise Kearns Hellmann, 93 of Amarillo passed away January 21, 2013. Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Llano Cemetery under the direction of Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. Mary Louise Hellmann went to join Our Lord on January 21, 2013 at the age of ninety-three. She was born in Shattuck OK on Dec. 22, 1919 and was the 1937 Valedictorian of Shattuck High School. She married Lawrence Hellmann in 1942 and moved to Amarillo in 1945. Mr. Hellmann died in 1999. Among her many interests were oil painting and china painting. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a charter member of the Amaryllis Porcelain Arts club where she served in several offices. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and beautiful artistry. She is survived by a daughter, Helene Smith and husband Robert, son, Steven Hellmann and wife Karen, four grandchildren, Anthony Hellmann, Daniel Hellmann, Slaton Smith and Veronica Leyendecker, and three great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity in her name.
