

Mary Francis Peters, 87 of Amarillo passed away March 8, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Danny Morris and Leon Green officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Mrs. Peters was born August 12, 1925 in Nevada Co., Texas to Delbert and Francis Morris. She was raised in Samnorwood, TX during her early years. She met and married Hunter Peters, Jr. in Wellington on December 6, 1947. They moved to Amarillo in 1953, and made their home here. They were married 54 years and 9 months. Mary was a member of Bolton Street Baptist Church. She was a hard working country woman who was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She took great pride in caring for her home and her family. She loved to share her smile and laughter, and would say “It’s better to laugh about it than cry about it”. We carry that sentiment with us today and for always. We will miss her. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter L. Peters, Jr.; two sisters, Gloria Paulsen and Dell Penrod; 7 brothers, Linden, I.V., Bill, Ray, Wayne, Delbert and Bobby Morris. Mary is survived by one son, Ronnie Peters; three daughters, Diane Werschky and husband Carlton; Marena Ingels and husband Steve, all of Amarillo; Vicki Peters of Lubbock. Two brothers, Jim Morris of Amarillo and Danny Morris of Opelika, Alabama; one sister, Patsy Smith of Fritch. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces ,nephews and friends. The family suggest memorials be sent to Bolton Street Baptist Church or to The Alzheimer’s Association.
