Melvin James Fair, Sr. of Amarillo passed away November 28, 2019. He was born March 21, 1928 in Rush Springs, OK to Joe and Mary Tooley Fair.

Melvin served in the U.S, Marine Corp and was honored to have been a part of "the proud, the few". He spent over 50 years as big rig truck driver and loved every minute of it. Even when he almost slid off a cliff in an ice storm, he would not give it up. One of his proudest accomplishments was to have driven 3 million mile without an accident.

He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and talked often about Heaven. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.

He is survived by: Daughter Jackie and husband Ronnie Pitt of Amarillo Son Melvin Jr, and wife Lynn of Plano Son Jason Cravens and wife Isela of El Paso Sister Geneva Myers of Amarillo Sister Ila Kibler of Amarillo 6 grandchildren Special niece Myra Boothby of Amarillo

Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2019 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, December 3, 2019 at Memorial Park Funeral Home’s Chapel of Memories with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Amarillo, TX.
