Miguel will lie in state for visitation on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 4pm to 8pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 6969 E. Interstate 40. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 10am in the funeral home's Chapel of Memories with Rev. Grace Ortega presiding. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to current local and federal restrictions, capacity will be limited in the chapel and social distancing regulations will be followed. Miguel (Mike) was born on September 7, 1944 in Mexico to Miguel and Santos (Herrera) Fernandez. He worked as a farmer for 28 years and worked briefly at BPI and was a maintenance worker at Walmart in Amarillo.
He was a facetious, caring and admired by all who met him. His hobbies included gardening, tending to his dogs, and passing out candy to all his kids and grandchildren. He was married to his queen Manuelita.
Miguel was proceeded in death by his son Leo Fernandez and both his loving parents Mike and Santos, as well as his oldest brother Jesus Fernandez. He is survived by his wife Manuela R. Fernandez, sons Miguel Fernandez Jr. and wife Maria of Scottsbluff, NE, Jose Luis Fernandez and wife JoAnna of Amarillo, TX, Manuel Fernandez of Amarillo, TX, Bobby Fernandez and wife Martha of Amarillo, TX, and daughter Isabel Allen and husband Raymond L. of Elgin, OK, and 19 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and beloved family and dear friends.
