Mike was born on May 24, 1935 in Duluth Minnesota to Ernest and Mayme Monson. He graduated from Hermantown High School. His family moved to Amarillo, TX. in 1954. He married Anita Mitchell in 1955. They have three sons Mickey, Kenneth, and Timothy. Mike went to work for the Texas Highway Department in 1955. While working with the Highway Department, he earned an associates degree, and worked in the Engineering Department. He retired after over 35 years of meritorious service.

Mike was meticulous in everything he did, including woodworking, yardworking, remodeling, and “honey do’s” around the house. He was a sweet, good man who so loved and cared for his family, and was so precious and loved by them.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Leonard, and Keith Monson.

Survivors include his wife Anita, three sons, Mickey (Linda) Monson of San Antonio, Kenneth Monson of Dallas, and Timothy Monson of Amarillo, sister Sue (Wayne) Davis, mother-in-law Bobbie Alexander, sister-in-law Marsha (Bob) Crowley, two special granddaughters Leah (Arvind) and Natalie (Josh), and many devoted nieces and nephews.

Due to our current health conditions in our community and government regulations for small gatherings there will be a private family service for immediate family members. A celebration of life service will held be as soon as it is safe to have large crowds.
