Odell Russell 80, of Amarillo died on April 5, 2014. He was born on October 15, 1933 in Mt. View, Oklahoma to Chester and Jessie Russell where he was also raised. He served in the U.S. Army for two years before serving in the U.S. U.S. Navy for four years before being discharged. He moved to Amarillo in the late 1970’s from Oklahoma. Mr. Russell was a truck Driver for over forty years before retiring in 1999. After retirement he went to work for KDJW radio where he was known as “Sweet Tater”. Odell was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the WT Buffs volleyball and basketball. He was also a OU Sooners fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Loyal Russell in 2003, Kenneth Russell in 2006, sister; Patsy Pierson in 2013 and a special friend and companion June Baker in 2013.
Survivors include his brother; Bobby Russell of Chickasha, OK sister; Phyllis Fuller of Amarillo brother-in-law; Harold Pierson of Amarillo and numerous nieces and nephews
