Pauline Jane ‘Mamaw’ Carroll was born in Kress, Texas, July 15th 1923 and arrived Amarillo in 1925 with her parents L.H. & Willie Jane Pendley, by way of Plainview, Texas’ first ever sold Cadillac, her first home a tent with a wooden floor. Pauline lived thru Black Sunday, the largest dust storm Amarillo has ever seen in 1935, and later thru the blackouts in California during WWII as a young military wife and mother. Later in life, having family in Texas and California, Pauline was always able to find adventures throughout the years traveling to and from.
Free spirit, loving mother and beautiful wife; honest friend, talented artist and much loved grandmother, Pauline passed thru the gates of truth to meet her creator on Friday May 22, 2015 at the age of 91. She is survived by two children, Tim and Suzanne, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grand children, and twelve great-great-grand children. She charismatically lived her last days at home with her daughter, grand-daughter and great-grand son. Watched over by an Angel, she drifted away during the night. A champion against war ‘til the end, Pauline was always full of Spirit and touched everyone she shared space with. Thoughtful, courteous and aware, she had a vivid encyclopedia of memories she always loved to share. We will always remember Mamaw Pauline and miss her warmth dearly.
Love and Peace to All, Please end all war.
Visitation Monday 6-8 pm at the funeral home and Catholic funeral service will be Tuesday, 26th at 2 pm at St Marys Catholic Church.
